After the recovery of the Codex of Ultimate Wisdom from the underworld, many changes took place in the lands of Britannia. Geologic upheavals created several new islands. Weather patterns shifted causing the temperate climate east of the Bloody Plains to degrade into a dry and blasted desert.
Travel is much more common than in the past. Basic roads have been laid in these times of prosperity and increased trade. Shipwrights can be found in the port towns to render craft for those oceangoing travelers. Also, hostels and inns have made a booming business with temporary lodgings.
With the increased motion of travelers came stories of passages to the underworld thought lost after the Avatar's journey. And now the loss of the King in his attempted expedition of that unknown land darkens this time of plenty.
