Where
Leela (full) Leela (head) Speak to Leela and tell her you are interested in a new quest. She will ask you to contact the inhabitant of the Uzer pyramid. She arranges for you to have access but doesn't go into details what she means by that, and also mentions that there are bound to be traps.
Where
Using
Combat and desert survival gear. As you explore, you might keep one each of a knife, a hammer, a saw, and any fire runes.
Concerns
Level 41 Skeleton Looters, level 41 Golem guard (only crush attacks), wall spike traps (thieving avoidable)
A. Skeleton with Canopic Jar 1
B. Skeleton with Pyramid journal
C. Skeleton with Mummy's hand
D. Imposing door (can't open in combat)
E. Skeleton with Scroll of the dead
F. Golem Guard
G. Golem's Remains
H. Cave In passage from Hive
I. Wall Spikes (Thieving disarm)

When you make it to the pyramid, you can enter without any difficulty. As you explore, you will find many items scattered on the first floor, products of that age-old distributor ACME. They are all, as they can be examined, useless. You can leave them there.

The cursed skeletons come to life and attack you as you 'rummage' them. Several of them have important items and to-be-revealed-later useful tools. Besides the above mentioned items you can find Mummy hand, Pyramid journal, Canopic jar (1), and the Scroll of the dead. Upon finding the scroll you will get a message that you have what Leela asked for and can return to her.

Items to be picked up:
Mummy hand
Mummy hand
Pyramid journal

Canopic jar 1
Canopic jar 1
Scroll of the dead
Scroll of the dead
Click the diary and the scroll to jump to texts found below.

There is the remains of a destroyed golem who mentions a curse that affected other looters in the pyramid. Only the queen, her family and employees are immune, and maybe you are classified as one of those, you hope.

Have a care on the northeast and northwest corners of the pyramid, there are wall traps here. You can bypass them with thieving skill.

There is a imposing door you can force when not in combat. Beyond this are some skeletons that can gang up on you and a golem guard. Not much for conversation, he only prevents your using the stairs. You may crush him now or later, but only a weapon with 'crush' damage will have any effect.

Notes:

  • The decorated doors at each end of the hall past the all spikes have messages on the door, lintel overhead and both right and left frames. The messages are identical for east and west doors but don't appear to have a bearing on the quest.
  • The journal you find details some looter's failed efforts in the pyramid. It speaks of magic defenses that have not affected you, seemingly like the curse isn't. Is this what Leela meant? You also find the looters were responsible for the destroyed golem and for discovering they only are damaged by crush attacks. It also speaks of a certain businessman funding the dig.
Where
Draynor Village (Glory Draynor teleport, Dramen/Lunar staff DIS)
Using
Scroll of the dead (you can also discuss the hand and jar you found)
Scroll of the dead Returning to Leela, she takes the greatest interest in the scroll you found. After studying it, she explains the pharaoh queen's name, personality, body, body-double, spirit and shadow must all be restored to her so that she can be communed with.

After this discussion, you can use the scroll's or the Pyramid diary's right-click check progress dialog. It will show you how much of each part still needs to be completed and your total completion percent so far. Each of the 25 pieces is 4% of the total. According to the quest diary, Leela wants the rejoining to be a minimum of 75% complete.

Rebuilding Mummy Progress Dialog

The scroll gives hints for the name and personality, the body double and accompaniment, and the body. It will take further exploration to find how to rejoin the shadow and the spirit.

You can replace some items it seems, but you need the papyri detailing the name and personality. According to the Pyramid journal, Ali Morrisane is running this looting and has already recovered documents from the site.

Where
Using
Pyramid journal
Ali Morrisane (full) Ali Morrisane (head)

Pyramid Journal Question Ali Morrisane about the tomb and you reveal the journal led you to him. He did take possession of a number of documents from the first recovery.

He sold some documents that might deal with the personality to Reldo of Varrock. Others, he cleaned and used for printing flyers for local businesses. As for the name document, he still has it, but will not part with it. He would agree to give you a copy he made for a glass of the sq'irk juice from the Sorceress's Garden that Osman prizes so.

Checking the quest diary, it shows Spring sq'irk juice though it seems any sq'irk juice will do.

Where
Using
Either: Beer glass (search shelf in Sorceress' dwelling), Pestle and mortar; or: Any sq'irk juice
Concerns
The Sorceress' Garden mini-game is a safe game.

If you have already collected a juice you can skip down to giving that juice to Ali Morrisane.

The Sorceress' Garden is a mouse maze game. You collect farming experience when you succeed and the rewards can be used for thieving or herblore.

If you've never played, you need to speak to Osman the spymaster (always on the north side of the palace) about the Sorceress and how he would reward handsomely for sq'irk juice. Then speak to the Sorceress on the second floor of her dwelling. She refuses outright when you reveal it's for Osman. Search either of the shelves on the south wall of the first floor for a beer glass, there is an unlimited supply. Now, ask the apprentice, sweeping away on the first floor, to practice teleportation on you.

Winter sq'irk fruitSpring sq'irk fruitAutumn sq'irk fruitSummer sq'irk fruit The game has each of the 4 seasons, lowest to highest thieving level to enter, they are: winter (1 Thieving), spring (25), autumn (45), and summer (65). To make a glass of juice, you need a beer glass, a pestle and mortar to squeeze the juice and any of 5 winter, 4 spring, 3 autumn or 2 summer fruit.

To get to the fruit trees you have to run the maze without getting caught. An elemental sees only the first few places in front of it and moves slightly faster than a player walks. Any place were none of the elementals can see while moving is generally safe. You have to time the movements of the elementals and move between safe spots to get to the tree at the end of the maze and pick a fruit.

Winter sq'irk juiceSpring sq'irk juiceAutumn sq'irk juiceSummer sq'irk juice Knowing all that, without going any deeper here, pick sq'irk fruit from the best maze you can do, and squeeze a juice from them. Drink from the fount at the garden's center to leave to the Sorceress' dwelling.

Copied name scroll Head back to Ali Morrisane and ask about his copy of the name again. He will trade you the copy for the juice.

Copied name scroll full

Besides being a mess, it's worded rather funny, but oh well...

Where
Ali the leaflet dropper (full) Ali the leaflet dropper (head)

You head to Reldo in Varrock next, but Ali the leaflet dropper does have those scrubbed documents. It might be of value to get one. Head north of Al Kharid to the west of the scorpion mine and you will run into Ali very near the fence here. Ask and ye shall receive.

Where
Using
Al kharid flyer
Reldo (full) Reldo (head)

After you remind him what you are discussing,Reldo does speak of the documents he's received. To give you a fully adequate document thought he needs more script from the same time period in the same hand.

Scroll of praise Lucky the flyer was cheaply cleaned and has enough to allow Reldo to reproduce a Scroll of praise, surely enough to provide a personality.

Where
Uzer Pyramid
Using
Knife, Hammer, Saw, 20 Fire Runes, Pot, Wheat, Jug of Wine, Spices, Willow Log, Prayer Potion, Canopic jar (1), Mummy hand, Copied name papyrus, Scroll of praise

Recommend Scroll of the dead and/or Pyramid journal for check-progress
Concerns
Level 41 Golem guard (if not defeated previously), level 41 Scarabs, tile/pillar puzzle trap, Level 41, 50, 55, 60, 74 Tumeken shadows
If not done already, defeat the golem guard, then head down the stairs.

A. Canopic jar 2
B. Canopic jar 3
C. Canopic jar 4
D. Mummy with no hand
E. Tile puzzle/trap
F. Tomb/Senliten's image
G. Tumeken Shadows
H. Uninviting hole to Scarab Hive

Before the tile/pillar trap, search each passage and find the Canopic jars (2,3, and 4) and the Mummy with no hand.

Cross the puzzle by only stepping on green Green sun tile (sun) or blue Blue eagle tile (eagle) tiles. If there is no way to do that, return to the stairs, go up and come back down. This will reorder the puzzle, but you might have to do it a few times. Here is an example:

Safe path on the tiles

Once you are across, continue through the south passage and into the tomb. Its obvious that the place has seen better days, it's been trashed. Let's get down to business.

Praying at the broken images of the gods rebuilds that statue and part of Senliten's spirit. Pray at all 5. Use prayer potion as necessary as this drains your prayer points. (200 + 300 + 1000 + 2000 + 3000 = 6500 Prayer exp.)

Replacing the table and repairing the chair build toward the body double. (2100 Construction exp.)

Perform some assembly: (use one of the items on the other and be careful not to drink the wine)

Reassemble the mummy: Mummy with no hand plus mummy's hand result Senliten's mummy
Senliten's mummy
Fill the pot with the grain: Pot plus Grain result Pot of grain
Pot of grain
Spice the wine: Jug of wine plus Spice result Spiced wine
Spiced wine

On the empty shelves on the west side, place each of the 4 Canopic jars. Then, place the mummy in its sarcophagus. That completes the body.

Replace broken pot and broken jug with the Pot of grain and the Spiced wine for the body double. (2100 cooking exp.)

Move to the east room and destroy the Tumeken shadow there. Then in the order south, north, west and finally east, light the braziers with 5 fire runes each and defeat the new Tumeken shadow that emerges. This replaces her shadow, and you can speak to her in the tomb and see her image to make the body double. (600 + 900 + 1200 + 1500 = 4200 Magic exp.)

To finish the body double part, craft a statue on the stone base by the spiced wine, then improve the statue twice. (450 + 900 + 2000 = 3350 Crafting exp.)

Speaking to the queen in her current form, she will take the Scroll of praise and the copy of the name scroll. She mention's the copy of the name is distorted and that only a scroll from the upper rooms will do to complete her name. It seems we must be more ... persuasive with Morrisane, with some help ...

If you have the level to do all this the mummy is 96% complete. If at any point you reach at least 75%, you get a message and you can go back and claim the quest reward from Leela.

Where
Al Kharid
Using
Ring of charos (a)

Return to Ali Morrisane and speak to him while wearing the Ring of charos (a). It turns out, with Charos' help anyway, Morrisane can be persuaded to give up the original name scroll.

Senliten the Pharaoh Queen (full) Senliten the Pharaoh Queen (head)

Speak to Senliten now and she will take the true name scroll. She is now whole and you can speak to her at length about her world and times. You can also return to Leela now.

The Ancient Dead

1. This mummification process was only performed upon important persons, with the split being more elaborate the further we regress into time.
2. I have studied the rites of the ancient pyramid dwellers in some detail and can now offer this summary of their burial rites. The crux of the matter is that, for reasons I have not fathomed, these folk split the body and soul at death.
3. I believe that a body double - a replacement for the deceased in the afterlife - is also supplied, which explains grave goods such as furniture.
4. At its simplest, the body is mummified, removing the organs into four canopic jars. The body is typically decorated with jewellery, an unfortunate habit in that it encourages grave robbers.
5. Food and drink are also supplied. Common clay pots filled with wheat suffice as food, while wine combined with spices is the traditional drink. These would be desert spices, of course, gnomish ones would not be at all in keeping.
6. This theory is supported by the presence of ushabti - images of the deceased - in these tombs. I believe these are replacements for the deceased in the toils of the afterlife and were always constructed from willow.
7. I have reproduced these from the modern equivalents.
8. I have also discovered that the name and personality of mummies are supposed to separate over time and must therefore be recorded to ensure the mummy can retain these features.
9. Thus, records of the name and deeds of the mummy should be present in many burials. As they are recorded on papyrus, these should survive well.
10. Finally, the spirit and shadow of the mummy are also noted as separating from the corpse. I am not sure, however, what form this particular split may take.
11. It is a traditional tale that mummies may be consulted for words of wisdom, but only if their burial site is undisturbed. Given the rich loot found in such burials, I fear this is an unlikely situation to arise. If it were to occur, however, the historical data
12. available would be potentially vast.

Dear Diary

Another day another coin. Sounds like Ali Morrisane is recruiting again and I guess I’ll give him another chance. That last job with the dung and the chili sauce was embarrasing but he did pay up.

So, I'm off to an ancient pyramid to investigate reports of ancient treasures. This is far more what I was looking for in life. Things are on the up and maybe we’ll strike it rich this time.

Seems we are not the first gang he’s sent to this pyramid, the last lot just came back with a bunch of old papers. Maybe I was too optimistic about the chance of mighty loot.

The others with me are a disreputable lot, I’d not be shocked if they would rob me as soon as look at me. I’m pretty sure that Ali the Shovel was rummaging in my gear last night. Still, he looks good in a scrap so I’ll overlook it for now.

We’ve arrived at the pyramid and are trying to find some way in. The main entrance seems magically shielded to us, despite there being no visible block to the door.

Ali the Engineer has opened up an old shaft to one side of the pyramid, looks like we’ll be in tomorrow. The work is much more strenuous than I thought when I signed up. What’s more, this ACME gear is so shoddy it hurts. Well be digging with spoons soon.

We made it inside, perhaps it will be more exciting here than in the desert. I don’t usually complain about food, but these ACME supplies are vile. I'm pretty sure they could market under the slogan ‘We put the rat into rations.'

Ali the Engineer is a camel's rump - the tunnel in collapsed, leaving us in the main tomb. At least it collapsed on him.

There’s something moving further in and I don’t like the sound of it.

Ali the Egghead bored us senseless with tales of how we entered a room depicting some history of the pyramid's inhabitant. Then he wandered off and his screams still echo in my mind.

The last of the water ran out after we killed that stone monstrosity. Nothing but cudgelling it with blunt weapons seemed to do anything. Its remains are still out there, yelling of curses.

More hours in this tomb, with food low and the stone terror’s echoing warnings stopping sleep. I feel worse even than that might sound. I pray for rescue.

Ali the Shovel is moving again, but not in a good way. The curse...
Though this cave is an aside from the quest, it is attached. The area is multi-combat and full of the level 41 Small scarabs

A. Uninviting hole to sub floor
B. Hole to cave near Golem remains on main floor
