After the first trial is completed, among several other messages, Gladwin Moon, the Hogwarts caretaker, contacts the player to help him with the issue where you found him besotted on your first trip to Hogsmeade.
“The Man Behind the Moons” quest begins as you help Moon by snatching these demiguise moon statues after providing the method of the unlocking jinx, Alohomora. As the player finds more statues, Moon will advance the level of the unlocking jinx. Nine moon artifacts will unlock level two while a second set of thirteen unlocks level three. After achieving this level, the “culprit,” Piers Pemberton, appears in a Hogsmeade alley and you will be able to sort out his and Moon’s issues.

Quest statues
Note that these statues are not included in any count of demiguise statues elsewhere.
Reception Hall near the Grand Staircase – Hogwarts Grand staircase section, Grand Staircase Floo, one floor up. From the floo turn around and enter the grand staircase, ahead up the short inside stairs to the right, and continue outward to the outside stairs. At the landing, head back inside to the left, and follow the landing round the corner up to an arithmancy door. The statue is in an alcove inset on the wall to the right. This is the first statue Moon will show you.
Prefect’s Bathroom – Just below the hospital wing, a service corridor connects the clockwork access to the stairwell landing where the prefect’s bathroom is also situated. The statue rests in an alcove set into the wall to the left of the bath as you enter.
Hospital Wing – The topmost floor of the faculty/clock tower serves as the infirmary. The statue is on the healer’s desk deepest into the infirmary, away from the clock mechanism.
