“Welcome” begins after “The Path” is completed. We continue to be introduced to game elements and the interface. Your Wizard’s Field Guide is provided by the Deputy Headmistress, Professor Matilda Weasley.

Synopsys

The character wakes up in their dormitory and eventually finds the common room. There are three key house members to socialize with before answering a call to the exit, where the Deputy Headmistress awaits them. Professor Weasley produces a Wizards Field Guide and hands it to the player. The book magically explodes, distributing its points of interest across the highlands. Prof. Weasley explains a portion of the guide and the use of the floo network. After some mild interrogation, Professor Fig follows up with you, and your first day begins in earnest.

Housemates to Meet in the Common Room

Before the deputy headmistress shows up, you must meet with three key house members. With quest assists active, they will be listed in your HUD quest info.

As the Deputy Headmistress leads onward, she instructs the player to use the guide. The player uses Revelio to find an obscured page near their dormitory entrance.

The game makes a note of how this event provides experience points. All Challenge Events provide experience to the character and they are to only way to level up.

First Floo to Find

Prof. Weasley leads the player until a nearby floo point appears. The next sequence instructs in using the guide’s map and discovering (or revealing) floo locations. You can then use this system to travel to the Central Hall stairs floo.

Prof. Weasley finishes leading you to the fountain in the Central Hall. She asks the player one question about their trip from London. After you choose how to answer, Prof. Fig arrives. The Deputy Headmistress requests his help with your instruction with the guide and then departs. Fig comments on your answer to Weasley’s question. He then instructs in using the enchanted path function of the guide.

After leaving you to your own devices, the next quests appear in your quest list.

• The 10-slot save system unlocks after the “morning of the first day at Hogwarts” cutscene. This is the first point at which the game can be saved. The tool will be below the Settings section of the guide later.
• Besides the ability to gain experience, other functions of the field guide become available after Prof. Weasley hands it over. These include checking everything it keeps track of (Gear, Inventory, Collections, the Map, Quests, Challenges, and Settings), quest tracking, and the Magic Compass. Later in the game, you will also access Owl Post and Talents within it.
• Not every Challenge event in the game provides experience points. Several challenges, such as the Revelio pages in Hogwarts, have more events available than those counted for points. Only various completion awards are available for unlocking everything in each class of items.
